Vancouver communities will have a public outdoor space to enjoy the waterfront once the Vancouver Landing site is completed.
Vancouver Landing Project Overview
The western portion of the Terminal 1 pier, known as Vancouver Landing, will host a renovated public space. This outdoor area will provide a public-friendly atmosphere for enjoying the waterfront. Ground stabilization work will be completed to bring the underlying soil to necessary seismic standards prior to upgrading the structure. Visitors will enjoy the use of public areas for recreation and entertainment. A viewing garden and the scenic Columbia River will bring nature into full view. Public artwork will adorn the grounds with historic and aesthetic notes.
The work
IDRAWPRO teamed with James W. Fowler Co., a heavy construction company that specializes in civil and industrial construction projects, to provide shop drawings for the installation of wood cladding and decking.
The scope of work for IDRAWPR was to prepare shop drawings for the installation of wood decking and cladding, including cladding on stairs and a sitting area (over a steel frame). Shop drawings preparation required very precise coordination of different trades, including concrete and structural steel work.
For easier material acquisition, iDRAWPRO also provided a detailed bill of materials with quantities.
Interesting facts
The deck boards have an epoxy inlay that shows a timeline of major historical events that have happened in the PNW.
